Skull Island Reborn - Flagtailed Boomer by TheMorlock Skull Island Reborn - Flagtailed Boomer by TheMorlock
The Flagtailed Boomer (Harpagodraco socialis) is a species of coyote-sized flightless pterosaur. Boomers are primarily quadrupeds, but can sprint on their hind legs for short distances. They are diurnal pack-hunters who communicate through a wide range of vocalizations and signaling with their striking tails, hence their name. The other half of the name comes from the deep booming calls they use to establish their territory. This sound is produced by inflating the gular sac. Boomer packs are lead by a mated pair who are the only pack-members allowed to reproduce. They are capable climbers, and often build their nests in trees, or, in the highlands, rocky crags.

Creature I created for :iconqueenserenity2012:'s upcoming reboot of Skull Island Reborn. Very, very loosely inspired by the Venatosaurs from the 2005 remake of King Kong who tried to be dromaeosaurs but weren't fooling anybody with those big goofy dimorphodont heads.

They also appear to be far more intelligent than dinosaurs, and appear to have unique concepts, like forming friendships and sharing.

I have some fun ideas for this animal. By this point, they are as smart as border collies, gave up laying eggs and give birth to twins, or triplets, and regurgitate milk from a gland like pigeons.in packs, the young inherent their parents roles, like in baboons. To resolve bloodshed, fights are more about clacking beaks and waving tails. They emplor herding tactics to round up large prey, such as driving sauropods towards soft ground. Some have been trained by humans. OK, I'll shut up. Babies are called 'pups' just as male adults are dogs and females bitches.

dimorphodon was already a bad flyer, so a flightless large game hunter would make sense.

dimorphodon was designed for killing fairly large prey, and could only fly in short spirts.

True !
But The there are MANY islands that either Quarantined (The brazilian human flesh melting venomous snake island : en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilha_d…)
And\or banned from civilian entrance (the disney island park who has Brain eating - making humans true zombies- Parasites)
And there are even times that Google Maps & similiar programs doesn't work and the programs owners even decide to Blurr The pictures !
(İt seems very sci-fi like but try to look at The island mentioned at 'abondend by disney\god'. They entirely blurr'ed it !)

So there is still a Slim possiblity ! - For a Dini İsland !

Well...
'' Brain infectin\eating amaboea '' is still brain infecting; so its still (potentially) extremelly dangerous. Only bu swimming and then you are walking dead that can infect others.

Finally, a non-azdarchid FLIGHTLESS PTEROSAUR! It looks awesome! I have to agree with you on the venatosaurs, while the isand's fauna in the remake are supposed to be new species of dinosaur, it seems evolution was fairly unoriginal on skull island and just made creatures that imitate Jurassic park. THIS THINGwoud be awesome to see on screen.

The thing about the head is that PJ wanted the raptor to differentiate from the JP raptor.  Jamie Beswarick, the sculptor at Weta Workshop, accomplished that by looking at the shape of dog heads for inspiration.

I only have doubts on whether we should get all the membranes off.. There might be some uses to it, even for a terrrestrial-arboreal creature (rudimentary gliding, display, etc.)

These guys aren't primarily arboreal anyway. They only nest in trees for safety as most carnivores will kill their offspring on sight.

I'd assume they just didn't need them anymore. These are fast pursuit predators, and too much looses skin would get in the way.
